INSIGHTS: Alyc Helms

Author Alyc Helms explores the patterns of storytelling, cultural appropriation, the distinction between gaming and literary narratives, and more!
Alyc-Helms

Alyc Helms – author of “The Dragons of Heaven”, “The Conclave of Shadows”, a delightful smorgasbord of short fiction, and gaming titles from Green Ronin Press – combines a diverse and in-depth scholasticism with a genuine passion for the writerly arts. That, combined with her background in gaming and theater, creates a marvelous alchemy in both her storytelling AND in personal engagements (as you’ll soon see).

Joined by APN colleague and co-host, Marie Bilodeau, we delve in to 20(ish) minutes of writerly discourse with Alyc, exploring the narrative patterns of fiction (including Kishō ten ketsu), the issue of cultural appropriate (and how to avoid it), the distinction between gaming and literary narratives, and more! It’s a buffet of writerly goodness for your ears… just hit that PLAY button! (and then check out Alyc’s Brainstorm episode)

(also, here’s a link to the NPR article by K. Tempest Bradford Alyc references during the interview: Cultural Appropriation Is, In Fact, Indefensible)
